Dr. Helman graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCLA in Biology in 1980. He studied medicine at the Pritzker School of Medicine, University of Chicago, graduating in 1984. He served as the Chief Resident in Neurology at the University of Minnesota Teaching Hospitals in Minneapolis, completed an internship in neurosurgery/neurology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and received additional neurological training at the St. Paul-Ramsey Medical Center. Board certified in neurology, Dr. Helman has been in private practice in California for over 24 years. He is a Diplomate of the American Academy of Neurology, a member of the American Medical Association, the California Medical Association, and the Monterey County Medical Society. Dr. Helman has performed over 20,000 Electromyography (EMG) tests and Nerve Conduction Velocity (NCV) studies. He is also a Clinical Instructor in Neurology at UCSF.
